NR is an NAD precursor, meaning it increases NAD+ levels in humans within hours of ingesting. Clinical trials have shown that at 300mg per day, NAD+ levels are raised by 40-50% within two continuous weeks of use. Maintaining NAD levels long term gives cells the best chance for repair and regeneration.
NAD+ is the central coordinator of metabolism and plays a vital roll in many important metabolic actions. All cell types have NR kinase gene pathways; brain, nerve, bone, hormone, immune, blood vessel, kidney, liver, skin etc. NR is the bodies preferred NAD precursor and unlike other well-known forms of vitamin B3 such as NAM and niacin (which are less efficient NAD+ precursors), NR has not been reported to cause side effects such as flushing at therapeutic doses.
